Seaside Heights will host its annual “SantaCon” event this Saturday, Dec. 16, marking a decade of borough businesses hosting the celebration to raise Christmas spirits as well as funds for charitable organizations.

SantaCon 2023, where participants dress in their finest “Santa Suits,” begins at Hooks and makes its way through town, with groups stopping at various restaurants and watering holes along the way.

“SantaCon is a non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political, and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that occurs once a year,” an announcement said. “It’s your chance to spread holiday cheer in the most magical and absurd way possible.”

Hooks will be hosting Chive Charities SantaCon Fundraiser again in 2023. Each participant’s entry fee goes directly to Jersey Chivers Charities, which assists underserved veterans, military families and first responders in need.

Participants are also asked to bring an unwrapped toy and nonperishable food item to Hooks when they check in. Toys go directly to MA22 (Ma Deuce Deuce) annual toy drive, helping local veteran families, and food will be distributed locally to Vetwork via the Under My Skin for Life Foundation.

SantaCon begins at 11 a.m. at Hooks. For a $25 donation, participants receive a beer mug, an embroidered patch, plus entry into a poker run and raffles. Those interested in participating can sign up online or register the day of the event.

After Hooks, the cavalcade of St. Nick impersonators will head to a number of businesses, including:

  • Beachcomber Bar & Grill
  • EJ’s Tap House
  • Riggers
  • The Ocean Club Restaurant
  • The Sawmill
  • Hemingway’s

Organizers said for those traveling from out-of-town, Hershey Motel, across the street from Hooks, has rooms available for $70.

SantaCon Seaside Heights is an open route, however participants are encouraged to follow the map located on the event’s website. The event also has a Facebook page.
