Sunny Monday at the Shore, But Heavy Rain to Follow Overnight Through Tuesday

Shore residents were bracing for periods of potentially heavy rain to follow an ideal weather day on Monday. Also, embedded with this story above is a video of the sunset that ended the weekend at Bayside Park, in the Normandy Beach section of Brick Township. Now, onto the forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Monday Night: The rain moves in, according to the NWS. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., continue after 5 a.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 73. While wind will not be a significant issue, new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m.. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High near 84. Southwest wind around 10 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms, are expected.

Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 70. Southwest wind around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday: Fair weather returns, with partly sunny skies and a high near 80. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
