The reconstruction of two streets in Seaside Park is underway.
Crews from Earle Asphalt are working on the reconstruction and elevation of H Street and G Street near the bayside, which will also include upgrades to an outfall pipe there to mitigate the impacts of tidal and storm flooding.
Last year, the borough council appropriated $875,000 for the project as part of a bonding measure, which will be reimbursed by NJDOT grants awarded to the borough in 2019 and 2021. The bids for the project ended up coming in below the amount bonded, ultimately adding up to $719,213 for the two projects. Part of the cost savings was realized by combining the two projects into a single reconstruction effort.

Both streets will not only be repaved, but reconstructed with higher grading to prevent flooding, officials have said. The crown of the road will be raised as well and it is expected that a check valve will be installed in an outfall pipe to prevent bay water from backwashing into storm sewers during periods of high tide.
