Seaside Park Police Blotter: Cat Cruelty, Fireworks on Fire

Seaside Park police have issued their weekly blotter. The blotter shows a sampling of calls received over the past week. So far, the department responded to 395 calls over the past week.

Verbal Dispute – Police were dispatched to a male and female involved in a verbal argument in the street on the ocean block of Lafayette Avenue. Officers arrived and located the subjects arguing. Police separated both parties and were able to mediate the situation. Police gave the female a ride back to her vehicle and the individuals went their separate ways.

Arrest – While on patrol in the area of K St. and Central Avenue Officers observed a male known by this agency with an active warrant out of another jurisdiction. Officers made contact with the subject and confirmed that was warrant was still active. The male was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and turned over to the agency where the subject was wanted.

Motor Vehicle Burglary – Police were dispatched to take a report for a car burglary in the area of G St. and Central. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim who stated his wallet and its contents as well as $200 cash from their unlocked vehicle. Officers were able to view some surveillance footage of the incident and saw a male and female enter the victim’s vehicle, but no clear shot of their faces was able to be collected.

Alarm – Police responded to the aera of 5th and Central Avenue for a burglar alarm activation. Police responded and checked the perimeter of the residence and did not observe any signs of forced entry. Police were able to locate some individuals inside the premises. After investigating it was determined the individuals inside were authorized to be there and the alarm was set off in error.

Borough Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of Farragut and Ocean Avenue Officers observed two males sleeping in their motor vehicle. Police made contact with the individuals and advised them of the violation and both subjects were issued a borough summons for the infraction.

Criminal Mischief – Police were dispatched to the area of Porter and Central for some damage to a motor vehicle. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim who stated their vehicle had been egged and had sustained a large scratch on the passenger side of the vehicle. Police gathered all the information needed to generate a report and took photographs of the damage. The area was checked for any cameras that may have captured the incident.

Trespassing – Police were dispatched to the ocean block of 4th Avenue for a report of four teenagers possibly breaking into a house that was under construction. Police arrived and located the subjects. After investigating it was determined they were there waiting for their friend to arrive who was a resident of that house. It was confirmed with the homeowners that they were authorized to be at the property.

Fire – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of 13th and Bayview Avenue for a garbage can actively on fire. Officers arrived and put the flames out to stop the fire from spreading. The fire company arrived and soaked the can and its contents with water to put out all the smoldering embers. The fire began with a discarded firework that was placed in the can that was still smoldering.

Borough Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of F St. and Ocean Officers observed a male and female with open containers of alcohol in their vehicle. Police made contact with the subjects and advised them of the violation, and both were issued a borough summons for the infraction.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of G St, and Ocean for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. Officers arrived and made sure everyone was out in the fresh air and that no one needed any first aid. The fire company arrived and checked the entirety of the residence using their equipment. It deemed safe and it determined that the alarm was set off in error.

Noise Disturbance – Police responded to the area of Porter and Central Avenue for a report of a noise disturbance. Officers arrived and located the loud music and spoke to the subject. He was advised of the violation and issued a borough summons for the violation.

Arrest – While conducting a motor vehicle stop in the area of Stockton and Ocean Avenue Officers observed that the driver may be driving under the influence of alcohol. After further investigation and conducting field sobriety tests it was determined that the driver was driving while intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing where he was charged with DWI and other motor vehicle violations.

Animal Cruelty – Police were alerted to a video that was posted online of a subject in the area of Porter and Central who was being abusive to his cat. After the video was reviewed it was determined the subject was overly aggressive with his pet and was charged with animal cruelty.

Arrest – Police responded to a call for a vehicle that struck a parked car in the area of 6th and Central Avenue. Police arrived and spoke to the female driver. After speaking with her Officers observed signs of impairment. It was determined that the subject was under the influence of marijuana. She was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence. She was charged with DWI as well as other motor vehicle violations.
