The family that has owned a Lavallette motel for decades is moving on, but have sold the business to a new owner – right in town – who will keep it alive.
The Lamplight Motel, at 204 Grand Central Avenue, was run by Cerami family for more than 50 years. Nick Cerami, who sent out the announcement, said his mother continued working there into her 90th year, even after his father had passed away.
“Upon her passing we learned of her specific intentions — for her children to divest her assets, including the Lamplight, and for our family to move in a new direction,” he said, calling the announcement “bittersweet.”
The Lamplight will remain under local ownership. The Crivelli family of Lavallette, known for their construction business, are the new owners of the Lamplight. They intend to keep operating the business as a motel.
“Their energy and vision signal an exciting future for the Lamplight Motel and our community,” Cermi said. “I wish the Crivellis great success!”
