Seaside Park Police Blotter: July 9, 2021

Seaside Park police, in their weekly blotter, reported a sampling of its recent activity below. In all, the department has responded to 350 calls for service over the past week. Here’s what’s happening:

Drug Paraphernalia – Officers were dispatched to the area of Stockton and Central for a used hypodermic needle on the ground. Police arrived and located the needle which appeared to have CDS residue inside. The needle was safely removed and disposed of properly. The area was checked and no other CDS or paraphernalia was observed.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad were dispatched to a patient experiencing respiratory distress. Officers and EMS assessed the victim at the scene, and they were transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment.

Alarm – Police responded to the area of Stockton and N Central Avenue for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the exterior of the house and the back door had been blown open by high winds which caused the alarm activation. The residence was secured.

Disturbance – Police were dispatched to the area of I St. and Central Ave. for a disturbance. Officers arrived and located the individuals involved. Two sisters were involved in a verbal altercation and officers had to separate them. One of the females was intoxicated and while she was being escorted off the property, she damaged a window screen by banging on it with her fist. She was charged with criminal mischief and released.

Borough Ordinance Violation – Police responded to the ocean block of 13th Avenue for a subject sleeping in his vehicle. Police arrived and located the vehicle that was called in. Officers made contact with the subject and advised him of the violation. The subject became agitated and caused a disturbance. He was issued borough summonses for sleeping in a motor vehicle and public nuisance.

Verbal dispute – Police responded to the area of the Boulevard for a verbal dispute between household members. Officers arrived and spoke to both parties and were able to mediate the situation and advised them of complaint procedures if they wanted to pursue charges.

Arrest – While on patrol in the area of the ocean block of Porter Avenue, officers observed a male throwing dirt and debris onto a parked vehicle and acting in a disorderly manner. The subject was placed under arrest and charged with criminal mischief, processed at police headquarters and released.

Disturbance – Police responded to the area of O St. and Ocean Ave. for an active verbal dispute between an employee and guest of the motel. Officers arrived and located the subjects involved and separated the subjects who were arguing. Police were able to mediate the situation and all individuals involved went their separate ways. Police advised all parties on how to sign complaints if they wished to do so.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of I Street for a carbon monoxide alarm. Police ensured all occupants were outside in the fresh air. The fire department arrived and checked the residence with their equipment and located no signs of carbon monoxide and the residence was deemed safe.
