Police in Seaside Heights have charged a New York woman with stabbing a man in the back, resulting in juries that required him to be transported to a hospital in a medevac helicopter.
The incident occurred at 6 a.m. Friday, said Detective Steve Korman. Ptl. Matthew Decataldo was called to the Surfside Motel for a call about a man who had been stabbed in the back.
When officers arrived at the motel, they came in contact with Jessica Heubach, 27, from New Platz, N.Y., along with the victim, identified as a 42-year-old male from Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Heubach told police that “while playing around with a knife she accidentally stabbed the victim,” Korman said.
Heubach was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded and transported the victim to a landing zone in Seaside Park where he was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
He remains in stable condition. Heubach was not listed as being an inmate at the Ocean County Jail; her photo was not available.
