If you were expecting hazy, hot and humid conditions during this summer’s August “dog days,” the Jersey Shore won’t be delivering.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service are predicting a mix of cool temperatures and stormy weather as the week rolls on – though it will begin with a pleasant, sunny day Monday.
According to the forecast from the NWS’s office in Mount Holly, Monday will be sunny – however with a high of just 73 degrees followed by an overnight low of 66 degrees. On Tuesday, clouds will begin to roll in during the day before a “soaking” rain arrives by afternoon, with the mercury reaching just 70 degrees. The rain will give way to a partly cloudy day Wednesday.
Wind will also be a factor, according to forecasters. Wind speeds will reach a sustained 21 m.p.h. on Monday and 32 m.p.h. on Wednesday, leading to wind-driven precipitation and a rough seas, as well as rip currents. Winds will be from the east-northeast both days. There is a small craft advisory in effect through 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Conditions will improve later in the week, as temperatures slowly rise to their seasonable norms. Wednesday will be partly cloudy and 76 degrees while Thursday will bring sun and an 83 degree high. The week will end with more sun on Friday, however the high temperature will drop again – to 76 degrees.
