Toms River officials are looking to start as soon as possible on projects to replace storm sewers in Ortley Beach and the North Beach sections.
The township council on Tuesday awarded a $739,000 contract for the Ortley Beach portion of the project to DSC Construction Inc. The council also awarded a $105,000 contract to Remington, Vernick & Vena Engineers to perform inspection services on the project. The North Beach contract has yet to be awarded.
Township Administrator Paul Shives said officials are planning to have contractors begin work “right away.”
“The idea is to get those done before the fall so we can pave in the fall,” said Shives.
The projects will replace all of the storm sewers throughout both sections during the spring and summer months before the aforementioned paving begins after Labor Day.
