Police said Sunday that a motorist followed a hit-and-run driver after he struck a 13-year-old Seaside Park boy who was riding his bicycle on Ocean Terrace in Seaside Heights.
The incident occurred at about 8:10 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Blaine Avenue and Ocean Terrace, said Detective Steve Korman. Seaside Heights Police Ptl. Tim Smith found the Seaside Park boy there, after he sustained a minor injury that was treated at the scene.
Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle left the area prior to officers’ arrival and was being followed by a concerned citizen, who was on the line with police dispatchers, advising them of the direction of travel of the vehicle.
The vehicle was ultimately stopped at the corner of Route 35 North and President Avenue in Lavallette by Lavallette Police Ptl. Ryan Crisalli.
Crisalli placed DeVonne Ramsey, a 26-year-old Newark man, under arrest for driving while under the influence, Korman said.
