Seaside Park officials are planning a fresh round of maintenance on the borough’s southern water tower.

Last year, the borough fully repainted its northern water tower, completing a major maintenance project that included interior and exterior painting that resulted in a new, patriotic look for the tank. The project at the southern water tower will be much smaller in nature, consisting of a pressure washing of the exterior.

The southern tank is located at the corner of Barnegat and 12th avenues. Borough Councilman Marty Wilk said the water tank was installed in 1974 and painted in 2017, and is in need of periodic cleaning to stay in good shape.

“It’s important to maintain the finish on the exterior of the tank so it lasts,” said Wilk.

Wilk, responding to a question from another council member, said the presence of cellular equipment on top of the tower would not likely be a factor in the power washing (as it would during a full repainting).

The council awarded a $21,200 contract for the pressure washing to Allied Power Washing, of Williamstown, N.J.
