Winter Storm Warning Issued: Ocean County Forecast to Get 3-6 Inches

A winter storm warning has been issued for Ocean County by the National Weather Service, an upgrade from the previous winter weather advisory that had been issued.

According to the warning statement, the winter storm warning will be in effect from 4 a.m. Sunday morning to 7 p.m. Sunday night. Heavy snow is expected at times, and there will be a total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with locally higher amounts possible – and locally lower amounts possible, especially directly along the shoreline where more rain will mix with the snow.



“Snow, at times heavy, will overspread the area on Sunday morning, with snow potentially mixing with rain at times particularly near the coast,” the warning announcement said. “Snow is expected to clear out from southwest to northeast Sunday afternoon.”

The statement advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and, if travel is necessary, bring an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle.
