Seaside Park Police Blotter: Too Drunk to Stand, Keeping the Peace, Bar Dispute Goes Too Far

Seaside Park police have released their most recent blotter, showing a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the last week. The total number of calls handled by the department was 59.

First Aid – Police were dispatched to the area of Stockton and Central Avenue for a heavily intoxicated male who was involved in a verbal altercation with the caller. Officers arrived and located the subject who was unable to stand on his own and not following verbal commands. The male was belligerent and aggressive and needed to be restrained for the transport to the hospital. The male was transported to Community Medical Center by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad.

Community Policing – Police responded to the area of 7th and Central Avenue for a resident who fell in their home and needed assistance getting back up. Officers arrived and helped the subject back up and into a seat. They declined any medical treatment.

Keep the Peace – Police were dispatched to the area of K Street and Ocean Avenue to keep the peace for a male subject retrieving personal belongings from his former residence. The female resident was on scene and the male subject wanted Police there to ensure no issues arose. Officers arrived and stood by while the personal belongings were gathered without incident. No further police action required.

Fire Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fire alarm activation in the area of I Street and Central Avenue. Officers arrived and no smoke or fire were observed. There was an audible alarm sounding. Fire department arrived and checked the building, and it was determined that the alarm was set off in error by a faulty detector.

Arrest – Police responded to Stockton and Ocean Avenues for a report of a patron who was threatened by a subject at the bar. The victim stated that a male patron, following a verbal altercation, said he had a gun and was going shoot the male instead of fighting him. Officers arrived and spoke to all parties. An employee also witnessed the subject state he had a firearm and was going to shoot the male victim. Police escorted the subject out of the establishment immediately and was subsequently placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with terroristic threats, and he was later transported to Ocean County Jail where he was lodged.
