Seaside Park Police Blotter: Intoxicated Antics, Beach Brawl, Lending a Hand

Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter, representing a sampling of calls to which the department has responded recently. The total number of calls handled by the department this week is 317.

Well Being Check – Police were dispatched to the area of 6th Ave. and the Boardwalk for a caller reporting a male passed out by the beach entrance. Officers arrived and located the male sleeping in the sand by the beach entrance. The subject was intoxicated but did not require any medical attention. The male was escorted home safely by police.

Borough Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of Stockton Avenue beach, officers observed a female urinating in public. The subject was advised of the infraction and issued a borough summons for the violation.

Verbal Dispute – Police were dispatched to the area of Porter Ave. and Ocean for a report of a male and female arguing. Officers arrived and spoke to the parties involved. The individuals were intoxicated and got into a verbal argument. They went their separate ways. Police gave the female a safe escort home.

Community Policing – Police responded to a caller to assist with a disabled vehicle in the roadway at Ocean and N St. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller and assessed the situation. Police helped push the vehicle into a parking space so the driver could make arrangements to get the vehicle towed to a mechanic.

Assault – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to the Decatur Ave. beach for a male assault victim. Police arrived and spoke to the victim who was lying on the sand with visible injuries. The male stated he was jumped by a group of males while on the beach. Police gathered information and descriptions of the actors and units began checking the area. After speaking with the people that called police, it appeared the incident had taken place approximately 20 minutes prior to police arrival. The area was checked thoroughly but no subjects matching the description were located. The victim was transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment.



Borough Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of Farragut and Ocean Avenue police observed an occupied vehicle with a male and female inside engaging in consensual sexual relations in public. Officers made contact with the subjects and advised them of the violation, and both individuals were issued a borough summons for the violation.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to J St. Beach for a subject who had passed out and was possibly dehydrated. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the subject at the scene. The victim regained consciousness and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.

Fire Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of Decatur and Ocean Ave. for a fire alarm activation. Upon arrival no visible smoke or flames were present but the audible alarms were all sounding. Fire department arrived and utilized their equipment and determined the residence was safe. After further investigation it was determined all smoke alarms were expired and needed to be replaced, which caused the false alarm.

Community Policing – Police responded to the ocean block of 13th Avenue for a caller who reported hearing someone at their front door and wanted police to check it out. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who advised them that they heard something outside the front door and their dog was barking like someone was on the porch. Police checked the residence and didn’t observe any signs of forced entry and no subjects were located in the area. Negative issue at this time and police checked the surrounding area.
