Lavallette’s post office will continue to operate at its location inside Borough Hall for another five years under a new lease signed between the borough and the United States Postal Service on Monday.
Councilman James Borowski announced at the meeting that the post office would be remaining at borough hall, where it reopened following Superstorm Sandy.
The new deal calls for the postal service to continue leasing the space it currently holds for $47,700 per year for five years, with no annual increases to the fixed price.
Calling the post office a “major asset to the borough,” Borowski praised officials for executing the lease and keeping the USPS’s presence in town.
Mail sent to Lavallette is initially routed through the main post office in Brick Township, then delivered to the local post office, officials said.
