Toms River’s Recreation Department is ready to make you the star of the pickleball court – or at least help you learn the ropes so you can join in on the fun.
With courts now dotting the barrier island, pickleball has found something of a local “capital” in the area. Brick Township announced its own lessons recently, and Toms River officials said they would offer them as well.
The township’s recreation department will offer three sessions over the course of the summer, with classes being held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-5:30 p.m. or 5:30-7 p.m. at the Bey Lea courts on the mainland. Registration begins May 15. The lessons will be held:
- May 21, 23, 28, 30
- June 18, 20, 25, 27
- July 30, Aug. 1, 6, 8
Classes will be offered to those 16 and older, and the fee is $60 per person.
Registration will open May 15 at the township’s website, an announcement said.
