Police in Brick Township, as well as county investigators, were probing the case of a hit-and-run that left pedestrian dead along Route 35 in the township’s barrier island portion. The suspect vehicle is pictured above this story.
According to a joint statement from Brick police as well as county prosecutors, the hit-and-run occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. Saturday morning. Officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to the area of Route 35 South and Bay Avenue for a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian. Responding Officers discovered that a vehicle had struck a female pedestrian in the shoulder of the roadway and then fled the scene. The victim was taken to Hackensack0Meridian Ocean University Medical Center in Brick Township, where she was pronounced deceased.
A continuing investigation has revealed that the vehicle which struck the victim is believed to be a spruce-green, 1998-2001 Ford Explorer, officials said. The vehicle will likely have front passenger side damage and a broken front passenger side headlight.
