A few hours before polls closed Tuesday, as come-from-behind candidates hoped they could pull off a victory and incumbents readied themselves for a night of number-watching, a cloudy day turned sunny just long enough to produce a beautiful display of what the Jersey Shore is all about.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service had its meteorological staff busy predicting an interesting pattern – or lack of one – ahead for the next few days. According to the NWS office in Mount Holly, a mixed bag of sunshine, warmth, clouds, rain and some chilly air are all in the mix for the rest of the week into the coming weekend.
According to the official forecast:
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 54. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph after midnight.
Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 68. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday: A chance of showers, mainly between 10am and 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 57. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 54.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
