Tuesday’s sunset provided a good opportunity to explore some of the sedge islands off Seaside Heights and Ortley Beach. It has also inspired us to explore a story on these local islands up and down the bayfront, their names, their importance and some interesting history they may hold. Look out for that report coming up in the next couple of weeks, but for now, enjoy some photography (below) and video (above) we gathered at a particularly good time of day to explore.
We also caught some fun moments at Seaside Heights’ beautiful Sunset Beach.
While sharing some photos of our local environment is always fun – it’s better being out experiencing it. Fortunately, with one exception, the near-perfect weather of this week will continue into the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday and Thursday will both be mostly sunny with highs of 78 and 81 degrees, respectively. South winds will be light, but may rise to 10-15 m.p.h. Thursday afternoon.
There will be a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 p.m. Thursday night heading into Friday. On Friday, there is a strong chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning and early afternoon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. It will otherwise be mostly cloudy, with a high near 78.
The foul weather will be gone by the weekend, however. Saturday and Sunday are both forecast to be sunny with daytime highs of 79 degrees. There will be little differential between high and low temperatures, which are forecast to be 72 degrees and 68 degrees, respectively.
