Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter. The blotter features a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the last week. The total number of calls for service handled by the department was 232.

Alarm – Police responded to the area of 2nd and Central Avenue for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the perimeter of the building, and all doors and windows were found to be secure, and no signs of forced entry were observed. It was determined the alarm was set off in error.
Borough Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of Brighton Avenue and Ocean avenues, officers observed a parked vehicle occupied by two subjects for a period of time. Police made contact with the male and female that were in the vehicle and were engaged in consensual sexual relations, and advised them to get dressed and explained the violation. Both subjects were issued a borough summons for the infraction.

Borough Ordinance violation – While on patrol in the area of 10th and Barnegat avenues, officers observed an occupied vehicle for an extended period of time and made contact with the male and female loitering in the parked motor vehicle. After further investigation, an open alcohol container was observed in the vehicle. The subjects inside were advised of the borough ordinances and the male was issued a borough summons for having the open container.
Property Damage – Police responded to the area Lafayette and Ocean for a caller who stated an intoxicated male opened a car door and, as he was getting into the passenger side, his door struck and dented the caller’s vehicle. Police arrived and located the vehicles and began speaking to the subject. The male subject exited the passenger side of the vehicle and the door of his vehicle matched where the damage was on the caller’s car. Police gathered all the information needed to generate a report. The intoxicated subject did not have access to the keys to the vehicle and was waiting for the driver to return.
Well Being Check – Police responded to the area of 7th and Central Avenue for a well-being check. The caller was concerned for their friend and some of the statements they were making. Officers responded and were able to locate and speak to the subject who was cooperative and spoke to police, seemed fine and did not appear to be in any distress. They were advised to call their friend at their convenience. No further police action required.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to assist a victim who was having trouble breathing. Police and EMS arrived and began to assess the patient at the scene. They were later transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment.
Motor Vehicle Violation – Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for driving without any lights on after dark, as well as a passenger standing up through the sunroof of the vehicle while it was in motion. During the stop, it was observed that there was a child in the vehicle, and they were not in the proper safety seat. The driver was issued several motor vehicles summonses for the violations, including not having the child in the proper safety seat.
Arrest – Police responded to a single car motor vehicle accident in the area of O St. and Central Avenue. Officers arrived and spoke to the driver and observed that her vehicle was missing a tire and there were several small parts of her vehicle in the roadway. After further investigation, officers observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage when speaking to the driver. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and it was determined that she was driving while intoxicated and was placed under arrest. She was transported to police headquarters for processing.

Arrest – Police responded to the area of Decatur and Central Avenue for a fight between household members. Officers arrived and spoke to all parties involved and began investigating what took place. After gathering all the information, it was determined that an assault had taken place between two female household members and the female who committed the assault was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters. She was processed and charged with assault and released.
