Lavallette officials this week unveiled new signs for every street in town – hand-designed and hand-painted by residents and ready to be displayed at the top of each block.
Custom signs are something of a tradition in town, but the new ones had input from residents on each street and will be installed at the top of the dune on every beach block so beachgoers will know which street they are on. Except they’ll be greeted with a brightly-colored sign, usually with a design that evokes image of the street’s namesake.
The signs were on display at the borough council meeting this week, where its artists were honored in a short ceremony at the start of the proceedings.
