Parking meters in Seaside Park reactivate April 1 each year, but for 2023, it’s been pushed back by a day.

With the Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade having been postponed due to weather in early March, the parade is now scheduled to proceed down the Boulevard Saturday, April 1. Officials in Seaside Park said at a borough council meeting last week that parade-goers normally don’t expect to pay parking fees, and the effort to enforce the fees amidst what could be confusion among drivers may just not be fair.

The borough council decided to issue a one-day suspension of parking fees April 1, even though the kiosk-based meters may be turned on. The borough plans on announcing the suspension of parking fees via social media and electronic signs seen by drivers when they enter town.

In neighboring Seaside Heights, parking fees also begin April 1 each year. It is unknown if the borough council there, which meets this week, will adopt a similar resolution.
