The Upper Shores (Lavallette) branch of the Ocean County Library will feature “An Evening of Maritime Songs” at the branch in October.
“Revel in the lore of sailing ships and maritime life when Charlie Zahm spins musical seafaring sagas in ‘An Evening of Maritime Songs,'” an announcement said. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the branch on Jersey City Avenue.
Zahm’s selections for all ages will “weave musical magic that recalls the age of tall ships, seagoing men, lighthouses guiding them home, lovely ladies, and life on the open sea and the shore.”
Zahm’s rich baritone has been described as “coming along once in a generation.” His passion for performing and guitar mastery have earned Charlie a place among the most successful entertainers on the festival circuit, and at maritime, Celtic, and American Traditional music events east of the Mississippi.
“With authentic love and respect for musical tradition, dashes of wit and a merry twinkle in his eyes, Charlie draws audiences into the stories behind the songs,” the announcement said.
