Saturday Glow, Sunday Gloom? Fog, Sun, Showers to Top Off Weekend

Saturday night was one for the books in Ocean County, as a hot August day combined with a cool east breeze for some nighttime haze amidst a glowing sunset. A video featuring a few local scenes we enjoyed is embedded above.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s forecast is a bit less clear – literally and figuratively. According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will see patchy fog before 8 a.m., but otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 83. Southeast winds will move 5 to 10 m.p.h. The evening will kick off a deterioration of the weather. There will be chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. It will be cloudy, with a low around 70. There is a 60 percent chance of a thunderstorm.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue into Monday morning, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11 a.m. High near 80, with a chance of precipitation near 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible.

The scattered storms could even linger into Tuesday, the NWS said.
