Lavallette’s annual Breast Cancer Walk raised more than $40,000 this year, organizers said.

Borough councilwoman Anita Zalom shared some photos from the walk with Shorebeat, telling us over 1,000 walkers participated in the event, which raises money for the American Cancer Society. The walk is held each summer in partnership with Lavallette PBA Local 372 and The Music Man ice cream shop. The walk is organized by The Tone Foundation.

Lavallette police provided security and traffic safety during the event, which will enter its 20th year next summer. As is tradition, the walk ended with treats at The Music Man.

“I’m so proud to participate and have this happen in Lavallette,” Zalom said.
