Storm Clouds Lead to a Dramatic Sunset Over Barnegat Bay Tuesday

Nature spared the local towns in northern Ocean County from severe thunderstorms that were scattered around various areas of New Jersey Tuesday night, but in the absence of lightning and thunder, there was a fiery sunset that was one to remember.

The dramatic scene developed after 8 p.m., as the setting sun slipped under a layer of dark clouds that were moving toward the ocean. The storms that the clouds would have brought fizzled just in time for one last glimpse of sun, and there was no disappointment.

For what it’s worth, the days are still long at the Jersey Shore in early July. According to the National Weather Service, the sun will rise Wednesday at 5:38 a.m. and set at 8:25 p.m.
