Monday’s deep blue skies flanked by light, wispy clouds led to a very-familiar “summer” sunset Tuesday night, a few days before the official start of the summer season. We caught the spectacular scene in Normandy Beach and the after-dusk glow in Seaside Heights.
While the weather in the coming days will be a mixed bag, a coastal flood advisory driven by tides – rather than storms – has been issued by the National Weather Service office in Mt. Holly. According to the advisory statement, up to one foot of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways Tuesday into Wednesday.
The advisory runs from 5 p.m. Wednesday to 2 a.m. Thursday morning. The high tides will be driven by the moon phase. Spotty minor flooding is possible with the Thursday evening high tide as well, but is expected to remain below advisory levels, the NWS said. A single foot of inundation will affect the “most vulnerable roads.”
The weather will otherwise be pleasant Wednesday, with sunny skies and a high of 79 degrees. Thursday will be cloudy, with a chance of showers or a thunderstorms and a high of 80 degrees. Hot weather arrives Friday, with a high of 91 degrees under mostly sunny skies, albeit with a chance of showers or a thunderstorm moving through the region in the afternoon.
Sunny skies are expected Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the high 70s.
