Forecasters: Temps to Hit 80 Degrees Thursday, Followed by Thunderstorms





The National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of thunderstorms, some of which may be severe, as a front moves through the region Thursday amidst mild temperatures.

Thursday will see mostly sunny skies during the day with a high of 81 degrees on the mainland and 70 on the barrier island. By the evening hours, however, some clouds will begin to move in. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 10 p.m., the NWS forecast said. It will otherwise be mostly cloudy overnight, with a low around 49 degrees.

The weather is set to improve Friday, however the temperatures will be a bit more seasonal. The NWs is calling for mostly cloudy skies in the morning, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 67 on the mainland and 59 on the island. Northwest wind will move at around 5 m.p.h., becoming southwest in the afternoon.



No watches or warnings have been issued as of the time of publication Thursday morning.
