Dense Fog Advisory Friday Morning, Chance of Record High in the Afternoon: Forecasters

A dense fog advisory is in effect for the Shore area for Friday morning, but the marine layer is expected to give way to sunshine and record high temperatures in the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, fog will remain present in the region until about 11 a.m. Friday, becoming worse the closer one gets to the ocean or other bodies of water. Visibility of one-quarter mile or less in dense fog is expected, the advisory said.

“If driving, slow down, use your low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you,” the notice said.

Once the fog clears, skies will become mostly sunny, with a high near 70 – record territory. There will be a calm wind becoming west around 5 m.p.h. in the afternoon.
