Watch: Blowout Tide on the Bay Follows Windy Day Friday; Wind Advisory In Effect Saturday




 

With a full moon combined with west winds late in the day, Barnegat Bay was – well – a bit smaller Friday night, as the water mark retreated, exposing some underwater structures, docks and natural features just as the sun set at low tide.

Meanwhile, a wind advisory was poised to go into in effect for the Jersey Shore area, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory period is from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. West winds sustained at 20 to 30 m.p.h. with gusts up to 50 m.p.h. are expected, a statement said.

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects,” the advisory notice said. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.”

There will also be a slight chance of snow showers Saturday afternoon, though no accumulation is expected. The high is forecast to be 42 degrees. The overnight low will plunge to 19 degrees, while Sunday’s high will be 35 degrees. It will be sunny.
