Joe Pesci Finally Sells His Bayfront Lavallette Mansion

Yesterday, Shorebeat reported on the real estate boom that is enveloping Ocean County’s northern barrier island. Today, we have some extra proof that it’s a seller’s market.

Residents of Lavallette’s West Point Island are getting a new neighbor, and losing a particularly notable one. Real estate records show actor Joe Pesci, who bought a property on Pershing Boulevard in 1994, has sold the home for $6.5 million. The sale was first reported by the New York Post and confirmed by Shorebeat through the Ocean County Clerk’s Office. The $6.5 million sale price represented the “Goodfellas” actor’s full asking price. The property had been on the market since 2019. The home originally sold for $850,000.

The home is formally assessed at $3.2 million by the borough, which generated a $26,402 property tax bill last year – among the lowest in New Jersey for a home at that value. The six-bedroom contemporary is located on a 100-by-141 foot parcel of land.

Built in 1990, the 7,200-square-foot contemporary home with an Art Deco vibe is located on West Point Island. Described as “bright, airy and spacious and taking full advantage of the beautiful view,” the eight-bedroom, eight-bath home has an open floor plan with large rooms perfect for large parties that spill out to the spacious pool terrace at the water’s edge with boat dock beyond.

The gated property is completely fenced with a large motor court that can accommodate multiple guests as well as a two-car garage for the owner. Upon entering, a dramatic free-standing curved staircase sets the stage for the living areas.

With white rooms filled with light and the backdrop of the bay through floor-to-ceiling windows, the living room with its two seating areas and pianos hint at musical get togethers. The large eat-in kitchen with island is perfect for preparing large meals for dinner guests in the dining room encircled by glass doors opening to the pool terrace and bay.

The comfortable media room walls are decorated with posters from Pesci’s films – and because his first job was a barber, a barber’s chair occupies one corner as a poignant reminder. The upper level, which can also be reached by elevator, contains bedrooms and an office, all with upper terraces and spectacular views.

Pesci’s representatives have said that the Academy Award-winning actor, and North Jersey native, was selling what had been his Jersey Shore home for 30 years in order to retire to California for year-round sunshine and to get in some extra golf.
