Forecasters: Thunderstorms On Tap for Days, But Shore Will Avoid Heaviest Rainfall

Portions of western New Jersey and Pennsylvania could receive several inches of rain Wednesday night into Thursday, however the Shore area will see less precipitation despite a thunderstorm risk.

The forecast from the National Weather Service calls for a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a slight chance of showers afterward. It will other be mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Southeast winds will blow 10 to 15 m.p.h.



The thunderstorm threat re-emerges after 8 p.m. Wednesday night. It will also be breezy, with south winds gusting in upwards of 25 m.p.h. A tenth to a quarter-inch of rain is expected, though thunderstorms could produce higher totals in specific areas. On Thursday, showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm in the beginning of the day, but skies will gradually become mostly sunny, with a high near 83.

Chances of showers will continue Thursday night into Friday, and thunderstorms will continue to be a possibility. Unfortunately, according to forecasters, overcast skies and a small threat of rain will last through Saturday.
