Seaside Park Police Blotter: July 23, 2021

Seaside Park police reported the following activity in their weekly police blotter. The incidents described here represent a sampling of the calls the department handles on a weekly basis. The department has responded to 398 calls for service so far this week.

7/15

Impound – While on patrol in the area of 14th and Central Avenue, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and it was determined the vehicle’s registration was suspended. The driver was issued summonses for the motor vehicle violations and the vehicle was impounded for the registration being suspended.

Arrest – Police responded to the area of O St. and Ocean Ave. for a report of a domestic violence incident. After further investigation it was determined that the defendant broke into the victim’s residence and took her dog without her consent. Officers were able to locate the defendant and he was placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail.

Overdose – Police were dispatched to the area of Farragut and the Boulevard for a person who was overdosing on narcotics. Officers located a female laying on the ground when they arrived at the scene. Officers were attempting to get the victim to respond, and they were unable to respond. Police administered two doses of Narcan to the victim and they soon awakened in a confused state. They were taken to Community Medical Center for further treatment.

Swimmer in Distress – Police, Seaside Park Fire Department, and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad were dispatched to the area of 3rd Avenue and the beach for a swimmer in distress. The swimmer was assisted by good Samaritans on boogie boards who helped him out of the water. Seaside Heights Fire Department arrived and put the victim on a backboard and carried him off the beach into the ambulance. He was transported to Community Medical Center by Tri-Boro.

Alarm – Police were dispatched to a burglar alarm activation in the area of Stockton and Ocean Avenue. Officers checked the perimeter of the building and located no signs of forced entry but did locate an open door. Police checked the interior of the building and located no signs of any break in and did not locate any subjects inside. The building was secured when officers exited.

7/18

Criminal Mischief – Police were dispatched to the area of Porter and Central Avenue for a criminal mischief report. The caller and two other houses in that area were struck with eggs and they wanted to report the incident. Police gathered all the information needed to generate a report and spoke to those in the area as well as checked for any camera footage that would aid in the investigation. This matter is still under investigation.

Verbal Dispute – Police responded to the area of 1st and Central avenues for a verbal dispute between household members. Officers arrived and spoke to those involved to determine what had occurred. Police were able to mediate the situation and gave the male involved a ride away from the residence at his request so it would allow parties involved to cool down. No further police action required.

Community Policing – Officers were dispatched to the area of 4th and Ocean avenues for a caller who could not locate their vehicle and was concerned it may have been towed. Officers deal with this problem often and it’s typically just parked in another location. The patrols located the vehicle parked fourteen blocks north and gave him an escort back to his vehicle.

Verbal Dispute – Police were dispatched to municipal lot 2 for a report of two females who were arguing with each other in the parking lot. Officers arrived and located the females and separated both parties. Police mediated the situation, and the individuals went their separate ways.
