In something resembling a return to normalcy at the Jersey Shore, while still complying with state guidelines and restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, Seaside Heights will host a full schedule of offerings for the coming Easter holiday weekend – which has unofficially marked the start of the season for many boardwalk businesses for generations.
According to the borough’s Business Improvement District, the high-tech version of the seaside resort’s popular, annual Easter Egg Hunt will continue Saturday and Sunday, as detailed in this previous story. The annual Casino Pier and Breakwater Beach big pre-season ticket sale will run through the weekend, plus many Pier attractions are open. Season Beach badges can be purchased Saturday.
“Most of the businesses along the boardwalk will be alive with activity, fun, interesting things for sale, and boardwalk food favorites,” said Michael Redpath, the organization’s director.
Seaside Heights season beach badges (regular and senior citizen season beach badges) will be available for sale (cash only) or pickup of previously purchased badges Saturday at borough hall (901 Boulevard) from 12 noon to 3 p.m. The badges may be purchased in advance through the VIPLY smartphone app.
Egg Hunt participants can hunt at their leisure from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday or Easter Sunday. The free event is child-oriented, with “C-Side the Easter Rabbit” offering clues and encouragement throughout. Families are able to enjoy an Egg Hunt outing on the boardwalk while observing social distancing through the use of QR codes that can be scanned. Families will be able to “hunt” at their leisure during the designated times and enter for prizes without touching anything other than their smartphone.
Every family or group that participates in the Hunt and completes an entry online will be mailed at least one prize coupon. Prizes provided by the coupons range from one-day beach badges, to slices of pizza, to arcade game play.
To enter a bonus prize drawing, hunters can take a picture of their Hunt group, properly masked, with one of the egg clue posters. The photo is then included in the Hunt entry form online. Hunters are encouraged to visit www.exit82.com/egghunt before they leave home in order to access complete instructions and a guide that they can download, print, and carry with them on the hunt.
