Authorities were investigating a double-stabbing on the beach in Point Pleasant Beach that occurred Monday afternoon at about 3:30 p.m.
Both the Point Pleasant Beach police department as well as the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit were investigating the incident, those agencies said via press releases. Though few details have been released, officials said two men were stabbed on the beach at an address corresponding to the Jenkinson’s beachfront. Officers responded to a call regarding a knife fight, police said, and found two victims at the scene. Both were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
A statement from the prosecutor’s office said “two individuals” were in custody related to the incident. Other reports indicated at least one person tried to flee the scene but was ultimately caught by officers.
“This is an active an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided when it becomes available,” the prosecutor’s office’s statement said Monday night.
