A man whose residency straddles Toms River and Lavallette and is best noted for climbing the former Jet Star roller coaster after Superstorm Sandy and the Skyscraper ride at Casino Pier several weeks ago, has been arrested on charges he threatened to kill police officers.
Christopher Angulo, 46, is lodged in the Ocean County Jail after being charged with making terroristic threats during a declared state of emergency. According to a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, on July 22, Angulo contacted the prosecutor’s office directly and made threats that he was going to kill police officers. Angulo had previously made “specific threats” against members of the Bay Head Borough Police Department in May 2020, and was charged accordingly at that time, prosecutors said.
Angulo has a lengthy criminal history, and is also known locally for embarking on loud rants at Lavallette borough council meetings that normally result in his being escorted out of the council chambers by police.
Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit located Angulo at a residence in Toms River on July 22 and he was taken into custody without incident. Angulo is presently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
