Seaside Heights will host one of its biggest First Night Ocean County celebration ever this year, with planners expecting a polar bear, super heroes, Insectropolis demonstrations, and much more at this year’s family-friendly celebration, beginning Tuesday afternoon.

The Coca Cola Polar Bear and outdoor winter celebration adds a fifth, outdoor, location to the four arcades that have traditionally hosted entertainment for the New Year’ eve afternoon event. In addition to the popular balloon artists, caricaturists, jugglers, and other entertainment, Insectropolis (New Jersey’s Bug Museum),  super heroes, and fun activities with JerseyShoreCountry.com will provide fun indoors.

Weather permitting, the celebration will climax with fireworks at 5 p.m. fired from the beach.

The 12 noon to 5 p.m. event has been a popular New Year’s Eve afternoon attraction on the Boardwalk for more than a decade. It is a family-oriented, alcohol-free New Year’s Eve celebration observed throughout the United States.

Participants in First Night Ocean County purchase a wrist band and passport that entitles them to join in the First Night activities at four Seaside Heights arcades: Casino Pier, Coin Castle, Lucky Leo’s, and Shake Shoppe. Passports stamped at all five First Night venues are eligible for entry into a drawing for a children’s beach cart of prizes or adult beach cart of prizes, each valued at more than $250.

Wristband/passport purchasers receive a minimum of $15 in arcade play and participation in the entertainment, plus adults receive a coupon for a one-day Seaside Heights beach badge. Children’s wristbands/passports are $6 and adults $10.

Wristbands are available at participating arcades during the event and while open during the week plus at the County Connection in the Ocean County Mall (cash or check only). On street-parking and parking in municipal parking lots is free during the event.

More details are available on-line at exit82.com. First Night is produced by the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District.
