U.S. Rep. Andy Kim (D-3) announced Wednesday that he will hold a town hall meeting in Seaside Heights on Saturday, September 28th at 1:30pm which will focus on flooding and flood insurance.
At the request of many constituents and with potentially harmful legislation possibly moving to a vote this month in Congress, Kim’s town hall will focus on flooding and proposed changes to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) that could have major impacts on communities throughout Ocean and Burlington counties.
Most local municipalities have passed resolutions opposing the National Flood Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2019, which has the potential to increase rates to the tune of 18 percent annually and as much as 25 percent on secondary homes.
“Our town halls allow me to listen to you so I can fight for you,” said Kim, in a statement. “I want to thank the mayor of Seaside Heights and the leaders of all of our shore communities for inviting me to discuss issues I know they’re working hard to address every day. I look forward to visiting with our neighbors to continue those conversations and advocating for you in Congress.”
The town hall meeting will be held Saturday, September 28 starting at 1:30pm at the Seaside Heights Community Hall, 1000 Bay Blvd, Seaside Heights.
