Seaside Heights has finalized a deal to keep a popular tackle shop, fishing pier, restaurant and boat rental business in town for several years to come.
The borough owns the property on which The Dock Outfitters in located. The business’s lease with the borough ended at the end of last year and its future was dependent on the outcome of an open bidding process. The parent company of the Dock Outfitters (Waverunners, LLC) submitted the high bid and was granted a new lease.
Dock Outfitters will pay the borough $80,000 per year for three years, covering the period of 2019 through 2021, said Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz. The new lease includes an optional seven year extension on the property that can be exercised by the licensee.
The property has been owned by the borough for years, but was redeveloped by Dock Outfitters owner Thomas Cortese, who received his initial long-term lease in exchange for agreeing to build the well-known landmark building along Barnegat Bay on Route 35.
