Toms River police have charged a local man with trying to extort $25,000 from township resident and former “Jersey Shore” star Jenni “JWoww” Farley.
According to police spokeswoman Jillian Messina, Farley told police on Monday that an ex-boyfriend, identified as Thomas Lippolis, of Hazlet, had attempted to extort $25,000 from her in exchange for not divulging secrets to the media about her.
“This information had been given to Farley through her publicist who had initially received a phone call from Lippolis demanding the money,” Messina said.
Farley and Lippolis had dated for close to a year approximately ten years ago, police said. On Wednesday morning, Toms River police detectives Tom Grosse and Jon Turner initiated an investigation into the matter and arrested Lippolis, charging him with third degree extortion.
