This summer, you can get a tan – and a charge – all in one place.
Seaside Heights has installed its first electric vehicle charging stations over several parking spaces, offering visitors the chance to charge up while at the Shore.
Eight ports are located at the municipal parking lot on Grant Avenue. Additional units are being installed at the small lot on Ocean Terrace between Sheridan and Hancock avenues, next to the new public comfort station.
A charge will cost 1.50 per hour while charging, then $2.00 per hour.
The borough opted to install the charging stations under an agreement with the state Department of Environmental Protection. Officials are also looking at a program that could bring special Tesla charging stations to town.
