A fire severely damaged a home in Ortley Beach Monday morning, with the weather making conditions tougher than ever for firefighters.
By 2 p.m., the windows were already boarded up at the house located at 106 Sea Gull Lane. The fire began at 7:04 am and was under control at 8:14 am., said police spokesman Ralph Stocco.
Neighboring homes also received some damage, Stocco said, adding that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no reported injuries.
“Weather conditions were severe with near zero visibility,” Stocco said, reiterating the foul conditions firefighters faced.
