Taking a trip to the beach on this mild fall day? You’ll likely have some company.
All day Wednesday, a deer has been seen prancing along the sand in Ortley Beach, with many locals capturing the creature in photos and videos that they posted online.
Wildlife officials have been called, according to Toms River police, though it does not appear the deer is in any harm. Witnesses say the deer has been seen venturing into the ocean, then running back onto the sand and drying off. The animal has mainly been hanging around the southernmost portion of the neighborhood, near the Seaside Heights border.
“The six point buck will most likely get himself home at some point today,” a post from the Toms River Police PBA said. “If you see if wandering around Ortley Beach, don’t approach it. Just let it be as it will get scared.”
