Get those Santa suits ready!
SantaCon will return to Seaside Heights this Saturday, Dec. 17. The event is described as a “non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that occurs once a year for absolutely no reason.”
“It’s your chance to spread holiday cheer in the most magical and absurd way possible,” the announcement said.
Participants dress up in Santa Claus and other holiday-themed outfits and march through town starting at 12 noon. There is an “open route,” though it is suggested that participants stick together to make the day more fun. The event kicks off from Captain Hooks bar on the Boulevard.
The event is free, but also raises money for several charities, which is detailed on the SantaCon website. Those who donate also receive a commemorative mug and patch. Participants are also asked to bring at least two non-perishable food items for Santa’s food drive and one unwrapped toy for a local charity.
The most important part is to dress up.
“Santa only gets jolly with those in full, head-to-toe costume,” the announcement said. “Just wearing a Santa hat doesn’t cut it – you will be jeered off the sleigh.”
More information is available on the full SantaCon website.
