Seaside Heights officials have banned the use of drones over the site where construction crews are working on the expansion of Casino Pier.
The borough council on Wednesday passed a resolution banning the use of the airborne devices directly over the site, located between Sherman and Sheridan avenues. The ban does not extend to any other portion of the town.
Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz said the council took the step after receiving complaints from workers about drones regularly flying in and around the construction zone.
“Some of them had apparently come in pretty close,” Vaz said.
In recent weeks, drone footage has frequently appeared online, showing aerial views of the project, which will expand the pier northward to accommodate new rides and attractions. One such video, which appears above this story, was shot Oct. 29.
