If taking a walk down the boardwalk is an example of outdoor Americana, it’s soon about to become equally as patriotic.
Borrowing a tradition from Wildwood, Seaside Heights this Friday will begin playing the Star-Spangled Banner each morning. It’s something borough officials had been hoping to institute for some time. Over the past week, things came to together to make it happen.
A technician from the company that sold the wireless speaker system to the borough flew last week to help troubleshoot problems the town had been been having with the speakers, said Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz.
“In the course of the service visit, he also installed equipment that will now allow us to play pre-recorded music,” Vaz said.
The first use of the upgraded public address system will be the daily playing of the national anthem. The Star-Spangled Banner will be played each morning at 11 a.m., Vaz said, starting Friday.
The tradition will begin just in time for the July 4 Independence Day holiday, but will continue every morning, holiday or not, Vaz said.
