Republican and Democrat voters in New Jersey cast their ballots for either Donald Trump, John Kasich and Ted Cruz, or Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, respectively.
While the state’s third congressional district race (which includes all of Shorebeat’s coverage area) was unopposed on the GOP side, voters on the Democratic side were faced with a choice of party-backed Jim Keady or Frederick John LaVergne, who was running under the Ocean Anti-Corruption Democrats banner. LaVergne was the party-backed candidate in Burlington County’s portion of the district.
Likewise, this year’s county freeholder race was unopposed on the GOP side – incumbents Jack Kelly and Virginia Haines are up for re-election – and heavily contested on the Democratic side. Party-backed candidates Michael D. Cooke and Ed Wolff were facing off against Ocean Anti-Corruption Democrats Scott Neuman and Tracy Caprioni, as well as Robyn Gedrich and Joni Brennan, who were running under the “Bernie Sanders” banner.
Below are two automatically-updated vote tallies for the presidential race (by county) and congressional races by our partners at NJ Spotlight. Local race results will appear below.
