The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Ocean County. The watch will last through 11 p.m. Wednesday night as storms move eastward through New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
One line of storms has already moved through the bulk of the Shore area but another, west of Philadelphia, was moving toward New Jersey. That line of storms had already produced possible tornadoes, according to reports from local media.
Showers thunderstorms are possible before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. It will be breezy, with a south wind 21 to 24 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 44 m.p.h. If, indeed a tornado strikes, winds would be significantly higher.
