Snow, Sleet, Rain on the Way for Monday and Tuesday

A winter storm will bring a combination of snow, sleet and rain to the Shore area, though temperatures will likely stay high enough to prevent any significant accumulations following the frigid temperatures over the weekend.

Snow will begin before 3 p.m. Monday, then it will change to rain and sleet, according to a forecast from the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly. The mercury will rise to 41 degrees, keeping the precipitation all rain Monday night into Tuesday. Snow and sleet accumulations will not amount to more than an inch, the forecast said.

After an overnight low of 39 degrees between Monday night and Tuesday, the temperature will rise to 51 degrees Tuesday before the rain tapers off. The wet weather will continue into Wednesday, with a chance of rain and snow before 7 a.m., then a chance of snow between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., then a chance of rain after 8am. The sun could eventually break out Wednesday, with a high of 44 degrees.
