Shore residents will experience both sun and rain this weekend, but temperatures will remain above freezing until Monday.
According to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, heavy rain will move into the area after 10 p.m., along with northeast winds of 8 to 14 m.p.h. Rainfall amounts will range from a half to three quarters of an inch. The overnight low will be 42 degrees.
Rain is likely before 8 a.m. Saturday, the forecast said, then showers likely between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. For the remainder of the day, it will be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 49 degrees. It will be breezy, with a north wind 18 to 20 m.p.h. becoming west in the afternoon.
After dipping to a low of 31 degrees overnight between Sautrday and Sunday, the temperature will rebound to 39 degrees with partly sunny skies.
For the Martin Luther King Day holiday on Monday, it will be sunny with a high of 31 degrees.
